I\'m collecting notes on lessons learned from past professional experiences (both my own, and that observed from others) as background material for when I do my next startup.

!! Use a wiki
Everyone in the company **must** be proficient with wiki editing and use the company wiki daily to collect work related inbox items, keep status on projects, etc.

* **Avoid meetings.** Most meetings are an exceptionally inefficient use of time. See CommunicationProtocols for how to communicate like 99% of what people think they need a meeting to communicate.
* **No meetings before noon.**
** **Build rather than blab.** Be creative and constructive rather than communicative. I have found that I\'m mentally most alert, and most creative before noon, and thus prefer to spend that time creating, writing, c

Disclaimers
Incomplete Work In Progress This page is very much both incomplete (is merely being filled in as examples are found and/or experienced) and a work in progress (communication protocols will be incrementally improved over time).
For now now, other than this brief note, I'm specifically not including on this page "emotional" and other highbandwidth personal communications which typically have very different requirements (interactivity) and different ideal solutions (e.g. face to face) than purely factual communications. communications.
Emotions are often filtered out in text communications and thus difficult to discern. This can be a positive (reduce drama, spreading of negative emotions) or a negative (emotional miscommunication).
Emotional context is best communicated in order: IRL F2F, video chat, audio chat (e.g. phone). The quality of the audio is important, as is the realtime nature. Voicemail is perhaps the worst.<
